Job Description:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The System Patient Safety Officer is responsible for leading the system-wide vision, strategy, and implementation of patient safety across NYC Health Hospitals. The Patient Safety Officer plays an instrumental role in overseeing these core functions of patient safety, including working closely with various stakeholders throughout NYC Health Hospitals to develop and foster a culture of safety.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration or an approved related program and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
Department Preferences
• Professional experience leading rapid cycle improvement and ongoing performance improvement projects.
• Work experience in monitoring trends, aggregation of data, as well as drafting reports, and conducting quality reviews.
• Microsoft Office
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Polished presentation skills
• Facilitation skills
