It operates approximately 800 school bus routes with a staff of approximately 1,800 people from six locations with a budget of $190 million. NYSCBUS's goal is to radically improve student bus transportation by innovating in all areas and by providing unprecedented transparency in bus operations to school districts that outsource this service. Grade C Technicians
Perform minor repairs such as fluids, light bulbs, batteries, tires and mirrors
Assist A and B Technicians with more involved projects
Administer road tests
Starting pay rate $20.81
Grade B Technicians
Performs all the duties of C Tech, plus
Assist with the supervision of C Technicians
Perform DOT prep and inspections
Perform intermediate repairs on engine cooling systems, heating & air conditioning, transmission and electrical systems, suspension and brake systems.
Perform engine diagnostics such as check engine lights, fuel pump pressure, etc.
Administer road tests
Starting pay rate $23.11
Grade A Technicians
Performs all the duties of B & C Tech, plus
Assist with the supervision of B & C Technicians
Perform DOT prep and inspections
Perform major engine repairs including engine replacement, transmissions and differentials.
Perform engine diagnostics such as check engine lights, fuel pump pressure, etc.
Administer road tests
Starting pay rate $26.58
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to read and write in the English language.
Combination of at least one (1) to two (2) years of apprentice level verifiable training and experience in automotive or diesel mechanics, which may include high school mechanics courses and/or a regional occupational program.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT Physical and random drug testing.
