Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ophthalmic Photographer.
In this role, the successful candidate Under supervision, performs ophthalmic photography and diagnostic services

Job Responsibilities:

    • May train and educate others in the Department of Ophthalmology in ophthalmic photography techniques and protocols.
    • Performs ophthalmic photography. Modifies equipment for each test. Takes images of patients using specialized equipment including but not limited to: ocular fundus imaging system (FA, ICG), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Corneal Topography, Specular Microscopy, and Photo Slit Lamp Biomicroscope, as requested by physician.
    • Photographs medical phenomena of eye to document diseases, surgeries, treatments and congenital problems to aid ophthalmologists in diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.
    • Monitors patients conditions and reactions during the imaging process for Fluorescein Angiography (FA), documents in EMR. Notifies physician as needed
    • Responsible for obtaining pre-procedural consent forms and other related documentation. Educates patients regarding administration of medications, as well as pre- or post-operative procedural instructions as directed by the ophthalmologist.
    • Assists with image-archiving and storage; manages duplicates and escalates any problems or concerns with image capture.
    • Recognizes problems or malfunctions of photographic, diagnostic and related equipment. May assist in making minor adjustments and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with established procedures. Advises supervisor of malfunctions requiring repair by vendor.
    • Responsible for preparing materials as requested for audio-visual presentations, publications, lectures, and exhibits. H andles requests from faculty, residents, fellows for preparation of materials for educational, research and clinical presentations or uses.
    • Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and reagents. Ensures there are adequate supplies and reagents on hand for patient care; works with supervisor to place orders on a timely basis. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery.
    • Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times.
    • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment. Ensures adherence to NYU Langone Healths infection control precautions. Adheres to HIPAA and Privacy & Security policies.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 1) High School Diploma required.
2) Must have 2 or more years of related experience, of which at least one year must be as an Ophthalmic Photographer with experience in retina.
Must has demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in diagnostic testing, including but not limited to: ultrasound, OCT, Goldmann and Humphrey visual fields, A and B-scan, Corneal Topography, Corneal Pachymetry, and Heidelberg Retinal Topography.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Certified Ophthalmic Medical Assistant (COA), or equivalent higher training OR
2) COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant), CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer), or equivalent higher certification.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51,243.96 - $63,939.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
