About The Position:
The Director of Extra Curricular Activities develops, implements, directs, monitors, evaluates, and promotes Oak Hill’s activities that support and enhance curriculum for students and represents the program within the community. This role also manages daily operations of the camp and supports camp and recreation activities within Oak Hill classrooms. The incumbent is expected to perform regular duties on own initiative, exercising a high degree of judgment and tact.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited program focusing on education or a related human services field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a special education field

Responsibilities
  • Oversees various extracurricular and social programs, including student government, clubs, and events. Plan, schedule, coordinate, and supervise events like dances, field trips, assemblies, and graduation activities. May manage student body elections, advise the student government with record-keeping and meetings, and maintain the activity calendar. Other duties include participating in faculty and Central Office meetings, managing finances, approving student body fund spending, keeping track of student body equipment and supplies, managing event attendance, maintaining activity announcements around the school and community, and abiding by professional ethics standards. Also, ensures all camp programs, activities, and clubs abide by state and district laws as well as handle parent and staff concerns.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, and program implementation including guidance on educational instruction per Oak Hill School practice. Responds promptly and competently to inquiries related to camp and extracurricular activities.
  • Promotes the camp and extracurricular activities for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes and encouraging student development. Designs, implements, and evaluates curriculum and strategies for curriculum-based activities providing students with opportunities for personal growth, gaining leadership skills, and discovering new strengths.
  • Develops long and short-range plans/programs (e.g., identifying school-specific support needs; increasing involvement with community partners and camp opportunities for related stakeholders; staffing, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that organizational strategic goals are realized.
  • Participates (as a presenter or attendee) in a wide variety of meetings or conferences that involve a range of issues related to camp and curricular based activities and services (e.g., regulatory requirements, program offerings, funding status, participation levels, etc.) for the purpose of developing and increasing program offerings, conveying and gathering information; evaluating topics/materials, identifying appropriate actions, and/or developing recommendations.
  • Screens, interviews, and recommends qualified candidates for open positions in accordance with Oak Hill Policy and Human Resources practices and policies.
  • Collaborates with a variety of internal and external sources (e.g., directors, local groups in various modalities, vendors, colleagues, etc.) for the purpose of developing curriculum/course modifications and serving as a liaison and information/process resource.
  • Coordinates programs applications and assists OHS administration in the submission of all materials necessary to obtain accreditation, or any license needed to obtain contracts with the State of Connecticut departments.
  • Monitors camp and curricular based activities and services (e.g. evaluating programs and attendance, reviewing staff, overseeing equipment procurement, staffing, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that performance outcomes are achieved within budget, department, and organizational strategic goals.
  • Uses professional influence to promote the growth of all students by actively engaging and collaborating with families, community partners and other stakeholders to support the vision, mission and goals of the school and organization.
