    About This Role
    District 97 seeks a dedicated and dynamic full-time World Language Spanish teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with elementary school students, be able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently, and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
    The ideal candidate will work in support of the district’s equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.
    Essential Role Responsibilities:
    • Teaching Spanish Classes: Design and implement effective Spanish curriculum, lessons, and activities.
    • Individualized Instruction: Provide differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of our learners, considering various learning styles, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
    • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students' language proficiency and monitor their progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
    • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and integrated educational experience for all students.
    • Parent and Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents and the community by communicating effectively about students' progress, organizing parent-teacher conferences, and participating in school events.
    • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an understanding of diverse backgrounds to create an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment.
    • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in education, attend professional development opportunities, and actively engage in ongoing learning to enhance teaching skills.
    • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes a love for learning, mutual respect, and collaboration.
    EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
    • Valid PEL with appropriate endorsements.
    • Preferred previous experience working with elementary school students
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
    Physical Requirements:
    This position requires the performance of light work—which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position may require indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
