We are a team of dedicated professionals who share a passion to work, live, and serve in the same communities where we do business. We are looking to add a Claims Specialist to our high net worth Personal Lines division.
In this role, the Claims Specialist investigates, analyzes, and determines the extent of liability and coverage regarding property and casualty claims. The Claims Representative guides, counsels, and directs clients through the claims process with insurance carriers. The Claims Representative reviews and audits completed claims to determine they have been settled in accordance with company practices and procedures.
Job Elements
  • Develop positive relationships with clients, carriers, and vendors
  • Receive and report new claims to carriers based on established guidelines
  • Act as a resource for claims resolution and escalate complex issues based on established department procedures
  • Investigate insurance company's liability and coverage exposure for claims using legal and claim principals
  • Proactively monitor claims to ensure adequate reserving and to ensure desired outcomes
  • Report overpayments, under payments, or other irregularities
  • Guide clients through the claims process, which includes providing education and instruction
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all parties involved
  • Hold carriers, third party administrators, and independent adjusters accountable to act in good faith
  • Document actions taken and communications; document outcomes and communicate outcomes to necessary parties
  • Perform claims analytics using reports, trends analysis, etc.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of insurance coverages
  • Keep current on new developments in the claims arena through periodicals, seminars, and membership organizations
Job Requirements
  • Well-developed customer service skills with a sense of urgency
  • Fiduciary duty to exercise discretion or expertise in acting on behalf of the client
  • Ability to determine relevant facts of claims from documentation and conversations; ability to analyze and interpret claims and loss information
  • Strong organizational skills to keep up with multiple claims cases concurrently
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Practical knowledge of all major property and casualty, personal, and commercial lines of coverage, claims principals, terminology, and practices/procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a demonstrated track record of success
  • Mathematical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Well-polished professional and tactful negotiation and persuasion skills
Preferred Education / Experience
  • Experience in property and casualty claims
  • Insurance and claims management designations and/or certificates
  • Bachelor's degree
