OakLeaf Clinics - Menomonie has an exciting opportunity to join our expanding team as a full-time urgent care registered nurse.

OakLeaf Clinics is dedicated to providing our patients with compassion, trust, and a lifetime of individualized care. Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley.

Position description

As the laboratory services manager, you are responsible for the overall organization, daily operation, and direction of all OakLeaf Clinics Laboratory locations. You ensure that your teams deliver on OakLeaf Clinics' mission of being dedicated to individualized and compassionate patient care. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate all projects and processes within the lab. In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring lab staffing, equipment maintenance, accreditation, fiscal accountability, and quality assurance measures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support all laboratory locations and team members
  • Deliver established goals and utilize good judgment to assess and escalate situations when warranted
  • Provide input regarding reimbursement and charges
  • Coordinate inventory management, vendor relationships, and expense control
  • Evaluate, plan, and monitor staffing needs for all lab locations
  • Collaborate with HR department to recruit, hire, and onboard new lab team members
  • Manage performance of all lab team members, including drafting/delivering corrective action and termination
  • Coordinate and oversee all lab schedules, including PTO requests and coverage
  • Conduct and lead routine department and team meetings
  • Ensure technical quality standards (including quality controls and proficiency testing) are met appropriately
  • Execute accreditation/regulatory compliance at department level, including CLIA, COLA, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations
  • Create and implement necessary laboratory policies and develop best practices that are standardized across all lab locations
  • Monitor performance metrics by which to measure and evaluate each lab location
  • Work with lab team, technical consultant, medical directors, and hospital partners to increase standardization where possible, reduce operating costs, improve efficiencies, and minimize failures in the laboratory operations
  • Model and lead with OakLeaf Clinics' mission, vision, and values
  • Create measurable laboratory goals and attainable
  • Develop and maintain positive physician/provider relationships
  • Engage with and participate with the OakLeaf Clinics management team, attend meetings as needed
  • Respond timely and professionally to all provider, patient, and staff concerns
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends in the industry
  • Utilize knowledge and skills in the laboratory while maintaining expected quality standards
  • Participate in the supportive functions of quality control, instrument operation, limited troubleshooting, teaching, and limited problem resolution
  • Conduct MLT duties as staffing needs deem necessary, specifically analysis of biological specimens (e.g., blood and urine) to aid healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients. Examine specimens for bacteria, viruses, or parasites. Measure levels of drugs or other chemicals in the blood to help ensure medications are at their most therapeutic levels. Look at the chemical content of the blood to determine deficiencies in nutrients or excesses of cholesterol or blood sugars. Make use of cell counters, cultures, microscopes, and other various types of equipment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), chemical, physical, or biological science
  • Minimum of three years of previous work experience relative to the technical function of the role
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience
  • Active certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American MedicalTechnologist (AMT), Health Education and Welfare (HEW), or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Windows-based programs (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with LIS programs, Epic Electronic Health Record, CLIA regulations, lab coding and billing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clinic setting.

Physical demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Major activities of this job include frequent walking, standing, and light physical effort performed on a level surface. The medical office involves some sitting, carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and squatting. The employee must use a computer and telephone and employ writing and organizational skills.
