As Controller, You Will Be Responsible For
- Work alongside senior management to ensure company growth and uphold company standards
- Plan, direct and execute all regular accounting operational functions including month-end accounting, reconciliation, financial statement reports for internal and external use
- Prepare/review regulatory filings and audited financials
- Coordinate and assist with the annual audits by internal and external auditors in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
- Prepare and negotiate contracted rates and renewals for individuals served
- Thorough knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles, theories, and controls
- Thorough knowledge of applicable financial laws, regulations and reporting requirements
- Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to analyze data
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel
- Leads the coordination and completion of annual financial audit in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Manages Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable; ensures accounts receivables are collected promptly and accounts payables are properly recorded and paid in a timely manner.
- Oversight of payroll processing and corresponding tax filings
- Oversees cash and treasury management; prepares cash-flow forecasts to project cash needs at monthly and quarterly intervals.
- Monitors debt levels and compliance with bank lending debt covenants and ensures compliance with all reporting requirements.
- Assists with annual commercial insurance renewal; providing financial data to support appropriate coverages by line of insurance.
- Apply for eligible grants to enhance the operations of the organization.
- Participate as a member of the Association of Residential Resources in Minnesota (ARRM).
- Leads the effort to streamline accounting processes and procedures to promote continuous improvement in all areas of their responsibilities.
- Coordinate with outside IT resources to maintain all technology and equipment
- Provides mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members and foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's or master's Degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- Licensed CPA, and public accounting experience preferred.
- 5 years of total experience in public accounting and industry, prefer some healthcare industry experience specifically Community Residential Services.
- Must have technical and theoretical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Demonstrated leadership skills working with and supervising a team; ability to set and achieve departmental goals and drive transformational change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, lead process improvement teams and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate across all levels and functions of the organization, including both written and verbal formats.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
