One year of hands-on experience in forwarding, logistics or distribution operations is preferred.
Experience handling air freight or break bulk.
Strong knowledge of geography to assist with the day-to-day movement of freight around the world.
Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multitask.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Hazardous certification is preferred.
Strong numerical skills are required.
High attention to detail and sense of urgency.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Receive, review, and process transactions for clients, including booking and billing.
Process data and obtain consular releases and other government agency releases.
Process bills for outgoing shipments and provide clear instructions for handling each shipment.
Ensure shipments are checked and processed in accordance with all applicable regulations.
Create quotes for individual shipments, including estimates, selecting transportation companies, and setting profit margins for individual shipments.
Manage Shipper Export Declaration rejections and requests for information from clients.
Identify transactions and tasks that require special handling; recommend process improvement and implement resolutions within assigned scope of responsibility.
Identify, investigate, and resolve all areas of client concern in a timely and proactive manner to build excellent client relationships.
Continual follow-up until shipment has reached its final destination.
Process air waybills, including those related to Dangerous Goods.
Notification of exceptions to planned events in a timely manner to manager, customers, agents, and sales staff as appropriate.
Assist with bookings, scheduling pick-ups and following up with carriers and truckers.
Process, open files, AES and transmit information to carriers (bills of lading) as assigned.
Process costs and finalize billings in Transportation Management system and files.
Ensure all communications and events are entered into the electronic notes section in TMS system.
