Position Summary

Are you passionate about solving complex problems? Join our dynamic team as a Astromaterials Small Particles Processor and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract.

As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Astromaterials Curation section in the Science & Exploration Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.

International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9 / 80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and / or 1 day of telework per week may be available

Duties & Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include :

• Process astromaterial sample allocations
• Prepare transfer and weigh samples, and track the movement of these samples through the Curation database
• Develop skills to work with delicate carbonaceous chondrite materials
• Use ultramicrotomy to prepare astromaterials for electron microscopy
• Use micro-manipulation apparatus and various techniques to process, store, and allocate micro-particle Astromaterials.
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Experience working in a clean-room laboratory
• Experience preparing ultramicrotomed samples
• Experience with electron microscopy imaging / analysis
• Bachelor's degree
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, and experience working with databases

PREFERRED

BS degree from an accredited college or university in an associated technical discipline and six (6) years related experience, or MS degree in an associated technical discipline with four (4) years of related experience, or Ph.

D. in an associated technical discipline and one (1) year related experience.

• Master's degree in geology, biology, physics, chemistry, or a related physical science field
• Experience with manipulation of micro-particles using glass needles
• Experience processing and analyzing carbonaceous chondrite meteorite materials
• Experience working with sample databases

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
