Dentists restore and maintain dental health by educating patients on oral healthcare, diagnosing and operating, prescribing and treating any disease, pain, injury, deformity or physical condition of the oral and maxillofacial area. They use a variety of equipment, including x-ray machines, drills, mouth mirrors, probes, forceps, brushes, and scalpels. They also use lasers, digital scanners and other computer technologies.
Responsibilities:
-The dentist provides dental services to their patients in accordance withgenerally accepted standards of professional practice.
-Adhere to thehighest standard of dental practices, ethics and professionalism at all times.
-Providepatient care without regard to age, race, color, sexual orientation, maritalstatus, religion, sex, national origin.
-Providediagnostic and treatment services.
-Provideprimary care and refer to specialist when necessary.
-Work withother staff members to insure delivery of efficient and quality health care.
-Demonstrate asocial understanding of the community in order to provide health care in aculturally relevant manner.
-Supervises,educates and instructs dental assistants and hygienists in their duties.Insures open channeled communication in order to enhance the efficientfunctioning of the health center.
-Willingness towork evenings and/or weekends.
Requirements:
-NYS License
-CPR trained
-Ability to serveas member of health care team and communicate with clinicians, staff andpatients
