Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs is Hiring a Communications Specialist Near Atlanta, GA

Summary
This position is located in a district or area office within one of the six (6) regional offices (RO) of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). The purpose of OFCCP is to enforce, for the benefit of job seekers and wage earners, the contractual promise of affirmative action and equal employment opportunity required of those who do business with the Federal Government.

Duties
Major Duties:
  • This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of OFCCP and reflects a high-level staff assignment providing significant assistance to the Director and Deputy Directors of OFCCP.
  • Contributes to the comprehensive short and long-range planning for the agency as well as operations, program measurement, reporting of results, and internal and external coordination.
  • Develops and implements specific communication campaigns and outreach activities that elevate and support the mission-critical priorities of the Administration (the White House), the Secretary of Labor, and/or the Agency Director.
  • Closely monitors proposed significant OFCCP undertakings including White House initiatives, Interagency Agreements (IA), Department of Labor initiatives, Secretarial priorities, and Agency Management Plan (AMP) strategies, to determine relevant communication campaigns and outreach activities.
  • Identifies and fills, communication needs and gaps, and develops informational materials that inform appropriate audiences of the Administration, White House, Department of Labor, and Agency's policies, programs, services, and activities.
  • Prepares talking points, speeches, and testimony for the Director, Deputy Director, and other senior leadership that demonstrate a clear understanding of the Agency's communication and outreach strategy.
  • Prepares press releases, responds to media inquiries, and assists the leadership team in developing strategic plans for coordinating communication campaigns and outreach activities.
OFCCP enforces E.O. 11246, as amended; Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and 38 U.S.C. 4212 of the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended. Qualifications
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

GS-14: Applicant's must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in or related to the work of Communications that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of Communications Specialist. Qualifying specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
  • Implementing communication plans and outreach strategies to improve understanding by various audiences;
  • Writing and editing briefing materials and talking points for senior officials for internal meetings, media interviews, public speeches, or broadcasts;
  • Preparing speeches, news releases, opinion pieces, feature stories, and other materials for public distribution; and
  • Building or establishing partnerships with partners who may have opposing points of view.
Education
