Office of Learning - Team Georgia Careers is Hiring a Program Assistant - Office of Learning Near Savannah, GA

Our Agency

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.

Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (GRHS) is a state-funded multi-service facility operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia. GRHS opened in December of 1970 with a design to decentralize mental health services in the state and treat people nearer to their homes and families. The hospital provides evaluation and treatment to clients needing care. The hospital's admitting office is a psychiatric emergency receiving facility open 24 hours a day.

GRHS is seeking candidates for the position of Program Assistant - Office of Learning, working 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. 

Job Description:

This position handles all scheduling of rooms for staff within the organization for events and classes. This data entry has time sensitive issues. This position is a leave keeper for 4 staff positions. This position is the only receptionist and phone answering staff member available in the department as the remaining staff are teaching classes.

Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:

  • Performs data entry for new employees into applications within the Learning Management System, and data entry into applications for current employees as they take classes.
  • Maintains all employee staff files.
  • Prepares files and folders for each New Employee Orientation class every 2 weeks. Responsible for taking, transposing, and distributing monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Orders, maintains, and stores supplies and inventory for the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to those applicants who possess some or all of the following:

  • Experience in the use of MicroSoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Power Point. Experience taking minutes.
  • Experience maintaining calendars and scheduling.
  • Must have organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.
  • Payroll time entry experience.
