MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II

Pay Grade: GRADE 125: $46,533.26 - $67, 473.23 Annual Salary ($22.37 - $32.44 Hourly). Rate is determined dependent on qualifications. Typically hire at minimum.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time and Eligible for benefits.

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position assists in performing semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and related service activities related to parks, cemeteries, urban forestry, trails, and recreation facility maintenance. Receives supervision from the Urban Forester, Area Maintenance Supervisor, or the Structural Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools such as lawn mowers, dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, flush trucks, compressors, jack hammers, paint sprayers, high lift trucks, concrete saws, Chippers, street sweepers, chainsaws, edgers, stump grinders, trimmers and blowers.
• Operates equipment to maintain parks, trails and open spaces within the park system; may assist with operation of equipment to open and close grave sites in preparation and breakdown of scheduled interments, dis-interments, and cremains placement.
• Maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Perform maintenance duties associated with the care and maintenance of the City's urban Forest.
• Assist with the trimming, removal, and planting of trees throughout the park system and along streets within City ROW.
• Install street barricades and cones prior to special events and prior to performance of maintenance activities City wide.
• Assist in special events and support for various events throughout the City.
• Direct and control traffic around work sites.
• Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner and provide information within the area of assignment.
• Resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
• Respond to all emergency snow removal and ice control duties as required.
• Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Assist with the preparation of sports fields within the park system and at recreational facilities.
• Participate in safety and risk management activities; take action to reduce liability to the city.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Employee is required to work as a team and frequently meet with co-workers and supervisors; employee is required to communicate in-person with the public during office hours; and employees are required to use on-site equipment.
• Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid, Class A Utah CDL driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements within 150 days of hire.
• Employees will be required to complete NIMS IS100, IS200, IS700, and IS800 within six months of hire.
