The Division of Financial Institutions ensures Ohioans’ money is safe by regulating financial institutions and service providers. This includes examining, supervising and regulating Ohio chartered banks and credit unions, and licensing and regulating non-depository mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators, and other consumer lenders. The Division’s Office of Consumer Affairs provides assistance to consumers to help resolve complaints against these institutions and works to provide education to Ohioans regarding financial literacy and other consumer protection topics.What We DoAs the state’s chief regulator, the Department of Commerce impacts Ohioans every day. Commerce is comprised of seven operating divisions and two standalone programs that span a variety of industries including real estate, liquor, banking, securities, firefighting, construction and skilled trades, and medical marijuana. What You'll Do
  • Examines books, records, & documents of more complex non-depository financial institutions to ensure compliance with Ohio laws for all companies licensed by the Division of Financial Institutions
  • Calculates financial computations and reviews computer programs to ensure borrowers are not overcharged on more complex examinations.
  • Completes examination forms identifying all compliance issues noted & violations discovered.
  • Prepares draft reports of examination, reviews and performs analysis of the company’s response to those reports.
  • Reviews legal action accounts taken against borrowers by licensees to assure compliance with Ohio laws.
This position is based out of Franklin County, Ohio, with accompanying work in contiguous counties. The headquarter location is the candidates home and the selected candidate must live in or in a contiguous county of Franklin County.Unusual Working ConditionsRequires overnight travel (i.e., both in-state & out-of-state).

4 yrs. exp. in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, finance or closely related field, commensurate with approved Position Description on file; valid driver’s license.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in accounting, finance or related field of study; 2 yrs. exp. in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, finance or closely related field, commensurate with approved Position Description on file; valid driver’s license.
