What You'll DoAssumes complete, independent responsibility for all functions of the Maintenance Department (e.g. vehicle maintenance/purchases and salvage, all vehicle insurance & merchant reporting record keeping, capital project management, telephone system maintenance, programming communication lines, etc.). Supervises all maintenance staff, laborers, and custodial workers. Determines maintenance priorities for entire facility and ensures completion. Establishes & administers preventative maintenance programs & provides on-going training for department. Facilitates maintenance services (e.g. carpentry, locksmith, electrical, plumbing, etc.) when needed. Evaluates personnel performance of department staff & signs request for leave forms. Recommends disciplinary action of maintenance employees.
Responsible for work assignments and manpower utilization. Estimates time, labor & materials for specific repairs and improvements. Inspects all facility buildings for needed repairs and safety. Responsible for maintenance of grounds.
Plans work and shift schedules for highest benefit. Participates in the grievance procedure.
Orders supplies and prepares budgets for maintenance department. Establishes proper record keeping system & issues reports as required.

36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in combination of building maintenance & building maintenance repair (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, sheet metal, painting, plastering, steam fitting, refrigeration, heating, reading blue prints & use of associated hand &/or power tools & equipment); 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in use of hand &/or power tools & other equipment for care & maintenance of exterior grounds; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in inventory control.
  • Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
