What We Need YOU To Do :
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM), working at our Northeast Office in Summit County.

As Ohio EPA’s environmental specialist, you’ll work with a team in DMWM ensuring waste management facilities are constructed and operated in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
While performing field work, you will be traveling to all of Ohio’s counties to conduct site inspections. When not in the field, you’ll review technical documents and prepare reports pertaining to existing and proposed DMWM facilities.
You’ll perform inspections of solid waste, infectious waste, construction, and demolition facilities, conducting complaint investigations to evaluate compliance with state regulations and approved permits.
You’ll prepare correspondence summarizing inspection findings, and plan and develop strategies for bringing about compliance.
Also, you’ll work independently to review technical reports, applications, and other documents pertaining to existing and proposed DMWM facilities and sites.
Additionally, you’ll evaluate health districts authorized to administer and enforce Ohio’s solid waste, infectious waste, construction, and demolition debris programs to determine their compliance with state standards, as well as participate on Agency and division technical workgroups, in enforcement cases as a technical expert, and perform various public relation tasks.
You’ll provide technical assistance to boards of health, municipal officials, county commissioners, township trustees, and engineers.

Qualifications
Training & experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
OR baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science & / or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science fields, with training to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
