Ohio Drive Animal Hospital is Hiring a Veterinary Technician Near Plano, TX

Ohio Drive Animal Hospital, located in Plano, TX, is searching for a Veterinary Technician to join our small animal practice. Prior veterinary, humane society, or other animal-related experience is strongly preferred, however, we’re also open to training.

We are looking to hire a full-time role, comprised of 4-10s, Monday-Saturday. Candidates must be available to provide rotating Saturday coverage (half day).

Background and experience:

  • Comfortable around dogs and cats
  • Upbeat and hardworking personality
  • Dependable, detailed oriented, ability to multitask
  • Shows joy and ease when communicating with people
  • Works well independently and as a team
  • Familiar with (or eager to learn about) the veterinary field (terminology, procedures, medical conditions, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Client communication and education
  • Obtaining and recording patient history
  • Patient physical assessment
  • Gentle restraint and handling
  • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • In house laboratory procedures
  • Microscopic evaluation
  • Drug calculations
  • Surgical preparation and assisting
  • Inducing and monitoring anesthesia
  • Dental prophylaxis and radiographs
  • Patient recovery and nursing care

Full-time benefits:

  • Compensation: $16 - $19.75/hour (based on experience and credentials)

Additionally, we provide pet grooming and have established relationships with specialists in the area for orthopedics and more advanced surgeries.
