Position: Project Assistant
Department: State Historic Preservation Office, Columbus, OH
Status: Full time, permanent
Salary: $20.00 - 22.00 per hour

About Ohio History Connection:
The Ohio History Connection, formerly the Ohio Historical Society, is a statewide history organization with the mission to spark discovery of Ohio's stories. Chartered in 1885, the OHC carries out history services for Ohio and its citizens focused on preserving and sharing the state's history. This includes housing the state historic preservation office, the official state archives, local history office and managing more than 50 sites and museums across Ohio.
Position Summary:
Project Assistants are responsible for a variety of data entry and file management tasks that support aspects of project submission, tracking, and filing for one or more program areas of the State Historic Preservation Office
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete data entry tasks related to project submissions and recommendations
  • Maintaining database and running requested queries
  • Prepare file documentation for project reviewer and for the National Park Service
  • Enter and track project information and due dates on project tracking database
  • Respond to procedural questions both internally and externally
  • Respond to requests for assistance both internally and externally
  • Maintain hard copy project files including filing, re-filing, archiving and general upkeep as needed
  • Maintaining all electronic copies of project files
  • Assist Department Manager with preparation of presentations, trainings, etc.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of two years of relevant project management and administrative experience or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Comfortable communicating with staff and the public
  • Proficiency in various office software suites and virtual platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft 365
