Ohio Home Care Alliance is Hiring a DSP (Direct Support Professional) Caregiver / STNA Near Mount Vernon, OH

This posistion does require lifting and posistioning of more than 75lbs throughout the day in a home setting.

Job Description

We are looking for a few Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team to assist children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities to learn, grow, and become as independent as they can be in their homes in navigating their community. If you enjoy interacting with helping people and supporting their care teams and families, this could be a good fit for you.

DSP responsibilities include exhibiting compassion, supporting individuals in ADL and personal care when applicable, and ensuring a safe environments. DSPs foster independence and personal choice by guiding individuals in learning and maintaining necessary skills, like social behavior and interpersonal competence so that individuals have greater self-reliance in their day-to-day lives.

Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with a wide range of developmental and physical disabilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Execute behavior management strategies and techniques to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
- Follow individualized care plans, individual support plans, and help in achieving individual goals and outcomes.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met.
- Administer medication according to prescribed guidelines. (After Certification)
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident progress, incidents, and observations.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their privacy and confidentiality are protected.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of resident information.

Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects or assist residents with mobility needs.
