Ohio Wesleyan University is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Associate Director of Admission. This is a salaried, full time, on-campus (in-person), position with benefits.
About you:
You are a seasoned admission professional with 8-10 years of experience, who has a passion for building relationships and helping students and their families through the college search process. You might currently be an Associate Director looking to advance to the next level. In addition to recruiting, you have experience in supervising or mentoring others. Ideally, you have worked with Slate and know how to utilize it to track and analyze data for use in decision-making. You don’t mind traveling and appreciate the opportunity to work on a college campus. You are comfortable with presenting to audiences of all sizes, both in-person and virtually. And you believe in the benefits of a college education, specifically one attained at a small, private liberal-arts university, and are eager to help guide others in realizing this opportunity.
Job Summary:
The Office of Admission at Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) invites applications for a Senior Associate Director of Admission to share responsibility for active recruitment and enrollment of a nationwide pool of students, and serve as a member of the enrollment leadership team, helping to establish data-driven recruitment strategies related to first-year students.The successful candidate will possess strong communication, management and organizational skills and be willing to travel up to 5-6 weeks a year. Weekend and evening work will be required . This individual reports to the Director of Admission and will be based on-campus in Delaware, OH.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • To thrive in this role you must foster, build and maintain relationships with students and their families and school and independent counselors, in an assigned territory through in-person and virtual interactions at high schools, college day/night programs and college fairs, evening and day receptions, etc.
  • As a Senior Associate Director, you will educate others about the value of higher education and the benefits of Ohio Wesleyan by presenting in-person and virtual presentations, conducting one-on-one interviews and engaging in direct communication
  • As a Senior Associate Director, you will participate in in-person and virtual on- and off-campus recruitment events (Open House events, admitted student receptions, etc.)
  • To thrive in this role you must review and evaluate applications for admission in a timely manner.
  • This Senior Associate Director role will be a key member of the Enrollment Leadership Team, and will work with that team to build data-driven recruitment strategies related to first -year recruitment, including, but not limited to:
    • Maintaining, evaluating and developing best practices for admission policies and procedures
    • Providing mentoring, supervision, training and guidance to territory managers
    • Establishing recruitment goals for team members, developing strategies to help reach those goals and monitoring progress towards those goals
    • Developing a travel strategy, managing a travel budget and measuring ROI on travel-related activities
    • Planning, implementing and assessing on- and off-campus recruitment, yield and melt activities as needed
Factors Contributing to Success:
  • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 8-10 years of admission or related experience. A Master’s Degree is strongly preferred. Because of the travel requirement, a valid driver’s license is also required.
  • Technical proficiencies in Google products, video conferencing software and higher education CRM’s (preferably Slate) are highly desired.
