Department Overview

This position will be 1.0 FTE at OHSU Health Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC), in Hillsboro, Oregon. At HMC, this Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with professional critical care experience will provide night coverage in a care team model in the Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) ICU with remote support by an intensivist via telemedicine. The appointee works in partnership with clinical and medical staff at HMC to provide excellent clinical care and customer services to patients in the ICU. This position will work cooperatively with nursing staff to provide education, continuity, and quality improvement initiatives. The APP will also work in conjunction with medical staff and HMC leadership to provide services to further HMCs missions and goals of bringing quality clinical care and unparalleled service to our region.

Function/Duties of Position

At HMC, this Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with professional critical care experience will provide night coverage in a care team model in the Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) ICU with remote support by an intensivist via telemedicine. The appointee works in partnership with clinical and medical staff at HMC to provide excellent clinical care and customer services to patients in the ICU. This position will work cooperatively with nursing staff to provide education, continuity, and quality improvement initiatives. The APP will also work in conjunction with medical staff and HMC leadership to provide services to further HMC's missions and goals of bringing quality clinical care and unparalleled service to our region.

HMC ICU is a mixed (medical and surgical) ICU. The APP will develop and implement care plans following established protocols under the medical direction of the intensivist and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in the ICU. The APP will work actively with hospital and unit staff to develop and implement discharge plans for patients in the ICU and to address length of stay issues and promote health of patients in the ICU through the use of ancillary services, educational materials, and counseling of patients and families.

The APP will participate in education of nursing unit staff on protocols with the goal of enhancing quality of care and patient services, as well as decreasing the risk of hospital acquired conditions and patient ICU length of stay. The APP will participate with hospital/unit staff in evaluating effectiveness of protocols and promote an environment of continued process improvement.

Professional performance is delivered in a manner that is compliant with the regulations and guidelines of all relevant regulating bodies (e.g. DNV, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory agencies). APPs will be responsible to document all of their patient encounters in a timely manner in the electronic patient medical record and will be required to obtain knowledge and education related to appropriate use of the electronic health record, documentation, and coding in the ICU environment. At all times, the APP is expected to treat all patients and co-workers with dignity and respect.

Required Qualifications

* Successful completion of a Master Degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing in the speciality of Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) from an accredited program.

* Current RN and NP licensure with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

* Current ANCC Board Certification in the area of specialization.

* Clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.

* Current ACLS certification.

* DEA certification.

* Previous experience in critical and/or trauma care as an advanced pratcice provider is preferred.

* Interest in learning advanced clinical skills required to practice in the ICU environment.

* Interest in working in a community hospital setting.
