Function/Duties of Position

$52.11- $86.81 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience.

The Ambulatory Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) will work collaboratively with Knight Cancer Hem Malignancy and Solid Tumor teams to include Physicians from oncology, BMT, radiation oncology, Inpatient oncology and oncology surgeons, as well as RNC, CC, and TC in the hem/onc division for the care of this patient population from the patient's initial referral through the first oncology consult/s and diagnostic work up. This position will work with the clinical nurse manager and other oncology nurse navigators to develop standard metrics, identify patient barriers, coordinate smooth transitions of care, and to be available for team members in gathering data for new patients that will allow the team to create a plan of care at the patient's first visit. This position will cover internally for other navigators' vacations, education days, sick days, leaves of any kinds and staffing turnover.

An Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) at OHSU is a professional RN with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individual assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, an ONN provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision-making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care as they approach their first oncology visit. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for all navigated patients within the oncology disease specialties covered and will thoroughly hand off care (verbally and in EMR documentation) to providers and nurses assuming care of the patient after the nurse navigation is complete (upon first consult and/or after diagnostic work up is complete.)

Required Qualifications

* BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.

* ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.

* Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire

* Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred

* Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License

* BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

* BLS must not expire during orientation

* Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
