Our product and market expertise includes marine equipment and shipboard machinery such as winches and launch and recovery systems, highly automated mechanical systems for uncrewed and autonomous vessels, and sub-sea systems.

Summary:

The selected applicant will support Mechanical Designers and Engineers for new and existing products, 3D parametric model creation, 2D drawing creation, engineering documentation creation, and processing of Engineering Change Requests. Must be able to multi-task several projects at the same time.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

• Use Solidworks and Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software to design new products and assemblies based on customer requirements, concepts, or sketches.
• Create, maintain and support of top-level and assembly BOM throughout the design, documentation, and release to the manufacturing process.
• Interact with vendors for accrual of STP files for Off the Shelf Components 
• Knowledge of EPDM project workflows and data card input for vault induction of custom and off the shelf components
• Update released drawings requiring changes and redlined engineering drawings using defined revision process.
• Create engineering drawings, models, and other deliverables.
• Follow organization and engineering processes from start to engineering documentation completion.
• Provide time estimates for completing designs and drawings.
• Work closely with with Engineering and Manufacturing department to clarify design questions, ensure design review and shop feedback is evaluated, and process engineering documentation changes captured during builds.
• Reverse engineer products that have already been build with full design and documentation package.
• Participate in Technical/Sales meetings to provide design proposals and ideas.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred.
• Mechanical design experience with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks 3D Parametric Modeling Software is required.

Requirements:

• 4 years’ experience as a Mechanical Designer using Autodesk Inventor and Solidworks 3D Parametric Modeling Software, EPDM and MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Experience in the steel and aluminum fabrication industry. Experience with sheet metal and weldment design and drawing creation.
• 4 years’ experience designing and creating drawings for fabricated and machined components, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and component general arrangement assemblies.
• GD&T knowledge and practice is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and disciplined.
• Able to work independently will little supervision and as part of a team.
• Experience with hydraulic and/or electric winches and mechanical systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to obtain US Government security clearance (US Citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Working conditions

• Majority of time will be spent in the office work area. Will also work on manufacturing floor.
