Lead Line Service Technician– Full-Time - $20.08/hr.

Skilled work responsible for the general airport operations, Fixed Base Operations (FBO) and Commerce Park. Work involves directing the fueling, towing and the servicing of various types of general aviation aircraft with a high priority for safety and strong customer service in a fast-paced environment and overseeing Line Service Technicians. Work requires communication with airport users, tenants, federal, state, local government and other agencies. Receives direction from the Airport and Commerce Park Director or Airport Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates day-to-day routine inspection activities; organizes, prioritizes, and delegates workload; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work, and troubleshoots problem situations for FBO staff.
  • Maintain and exhibit a strong knowledge of proper General Aviation and Fixed Based Operator (FBO) safety procedures.
  • Responds to airport incidents and accidents making necessary notifications.
  • Inspects and monitors airport equipment and facilities for maintenance, housekeeping, aesthetics, safety, security and general conditions; taking appropriate action when necessary to rectify unsuitable conditions.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates escorts/tours within both public and secured airport areas.
  • Perform daily fuel farm inspections including monitoring fuel for ordering and receiving, and performing pre-loading and quality control inspections.
  • Ensures the proper control of persons and vehicles in restricted access areas of the airport.
  • Performs daily airfield inspections in accordance with FAA guidelines.
  • Operates and maintains county-owned vehicles.
  • Follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties and training in an allotted time period as well as maintain good working relationships with the team.
  • Perform daily and monthly fuel truck safety inspections to include filter replacement. Ensure vehicles are in safe operating order and running properly.
  • Perform routine daily and monthly equipment safety inspections. Ensures all equipment is in safe and proper working order.
  • Marshal, park, greet, tow, wing-walk, fuel and provide various services including lavatory and water services to general aviation aircraft.
  • Assist other departments as needed performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; any combination of relevant education and experience; basic knowledge of aircraft engines and fuel types. Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and National Fire Protection Association guidelines.
    Preferred: Any combination of an Associates Degree in General Studies or a related field; one (1) year experience working with a Fixed Based Operator as a Line Service Technician; Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and National Fire Protection Association guidelines.

(A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Must be able to complete Line Service Technician Training provided by Airport Fueling Contractor within 90 days of employment.
