    Position Summary:
    Provides technical assistance and support in the area of Special Education programming. Promotes quality and compliance of programs and services to improve student achievement.
    Essential Duties:
    • Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams to maximize student success.
    • Assist the Special Education Teachers, Support Staff, Campus Administrators, and Related Service Providers in order to provide classroom structures, supports and instruction aligned with district-approved Evidence Based and Research Based Practices.
    • Provide supports to Special Education Teachers in the development and implementation of lesson plans needed and reflect Specially Designed Instruction.
    • Assist with staff development of programs and innovation of special methods and approaches specific to meeting student needs in special education settings for both instruction and behavior.
    • Collect and analyze data in an effort to evaluate program effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with campus administrators who oversee the provision of special education services at their schools.
    • Serve as liaison with professionals, the community, parents and agencies regarding special education laws, procedures, policies, programs and placement.
    • Assist the Office of Exceptional Student Services Leadership Team in monitoring local plan implementation, legal compliance and data collection.
    • Establish and maintain professional communication with parents, students, and district personnel; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
    • Attend and participate in department meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
    • Pursue professional development activities that align with district goals and initiatives and current professional research.
    • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and district board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and planning for Special Education services.
    • Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations, and verbal and written directives.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Valid Oklahoma Special Education Teacher certificate or appropriate Related Service licensure.
    • Minimum of Three (3) years successful Special Education teaching or related services field experience.
    • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
    • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines.
    • Skills in mediation and facilitation of group and/or individual problems to resolution.
    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
    • Master’s Degree in Special Education.
    *Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.
    Physical/Mental Requirements:
    • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
    • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
    • Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
    • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
    • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
    Work Environment:
    • Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
