Oklahoma City Public Schools is Hiring a Development coordinator Near Oklahoma, OK

Position Summary :

The focus of this position will be to enhance each teacher’s ability to provide instruction that build students’ academic skills by enhancing student engagement in and ownership of the learning.

The PD Coordinator will work directly with administrators, Instructional Coaches, and at times Teachers, within the District to enhance instruction, provide support through demonstrations, collaborations and offering one on one interactions to align site level instructional decisions with district curriculum priorities.

Essential Duties :

Responsible for supporting regular, ELL, and special education teachers in the implementation and monitoring of the district curriculum guidelines through the Instructional Coaching program.

Provides rigorous standards-based teaching strategies including the District Standards in professional development.

Works with the administrators, instructional leadership teams and other Instructional Coaches to monitor and support the implementation of the program’s growth and improvement.

Monitors, reviews, supports and makes recommendations regarding instructional programs within the District working with the administrators and instructional leadership teams to monitor and support the implementation of the program’s growth and improvement.

Integrates the district’s instructional guides into the instructional strategies to help create an integrated campus action plan.

Facilitates the identification of specific, measurable and attainable benchmarks for teacher and student performance. Assist staff in aligning their instructional strategies with the District Standards, curriculum and assessments.

Collaborates with the Instructional Coaches in conducting classroom interactions that demonstrate and observe essential elements of the school’s instructional program and District Standards.

Components of these interactions will include : planning conferences with teachers, demonstration observation sessions, and debriefing.

Works with the Instructional Coaches to provide individualized, classroom follow up to support teachers in implementing research based instructional programs and strategies.

Facilitate inquiry groups among teachers in which research on effective teaching practices are read and discussed.

Provides technical assistance in the collection, analysis and interpretation of student achievement data.

Supervises a cadre of Instructional Coaches utilizing the Marzano framework as outlined in TLE Guidelines.

Maintains an awareness of current research and curricula trends and disseminates best practices in instruction, assessment, technology and equity to provide job embedded professional development on instructional strategies that increase student achievement.

Collaborates with other instructional coaches to review performance data, reflect on themes, determine how to aggregate and prioritize needs, and allocate resources accordingly.

Leads the professional development programs for certified staff across the district. Develops, delivers, and assesses New Teacher, ECert, and other PD opportunities when a need is identified.

This position will be required to travel between district campus locations to perform the duties and must have a reliable mode of transportation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and / or Abilities Required) :

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Oklahoma Teacher certificate and five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.

Two (2) years as an Instructional Coach required.

Masters’ Degree preferred.

ELEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS : Elementary Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Early Childhood, or Elementary Certification.

SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS : Secondary English / Language Arts, Reading Specialist, Secondary Math, and / or Advanced Mathematics certification.

Experience in planning and monitoring district-wide instructional programs.

Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience leading teachers in the area of instructional delivery across the curriculum.

Outstanding communication facilitation skills.

Interpersonal skills suited to provide advice and mentoring to teachers and administrators.

Knowledge of effective instructional practices for English Language Learners, students with disabilities and gifted and talented students.

Experience in providing support to campuses in the areas of classroom-technology integration, parental involvement, school wide needs assessments, and analyzing data using large-scale, benchmark, and embedded assessments.

Physical / Mental Requirements :

Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.

Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.

Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.

Sitting for prolonged periods of time.

May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Work Environment :

Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.

Driving personal vehicle within and outside the district with occasional airline travel.
