Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School is Hiring a Physical Therapist (K-8) 1099 contract Near Sturbridge, MA

Position Overview Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to serve grades k-8. Successful candidates possess experience working in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with disabilities. Our Physical Therapist must possess a passionate commitment to help our students develop skills needed to fully participate in and out of the classroom. He/she must create fun, exciting programs to help students grow in the areas of motor development and student participation in everyday routines both in and out of the classroom. The physical therapist is a vital member of the school team who works closely with the Director of Student Support to create schoolwide programs and frameworks for before and extended day programs in the school and in Old Sturbridge Village that will promote growth for all Academy students. The Physical Therapist reports to the Director of Student Support. See below for more details.Physical Therapist QualificationsMaster’s degree preferredRegistered Physical TherapistLicensed in the Commonwealth of MassachusettsPrior experience working in an educational settingDemonstrate collaborative instructional abilityExperience working with students with disabilitiesBilingual PreferredCitizenship, residency or work VISA in United States requiredShare WCA's mission and EL Education philosophy, which will provide K-4 students with rigorous, real world learning experiences in a supportive and nurturing school community, helping all students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem solvers.Administer assessments, write reports, communicate with families, and participate in team meetings and IEP development.Plan and implement physical therapy intervention programs that meet the specific goals and objectives as stated in the IEP.Possess excellent skills in instruction, organization and communication.Under direction of the Director of Student Support assist students individually or in small groups needing differentiation in the classroom while modeling EL Education philosophy.Work with the leadership team, classroom teachers, and other specialists to ensure the needs of all students are being met.Successfully implement school wide procedures and processes to maintain a school culture of high academic achievement and behavioral expectations. Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional effortsProvide consultation to general education and special education staff regarding student needs and best practicesMonitor student progress through the collection of dataAdapt and modify the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possibleMeet all district, state and federal requirements including IEP and Progress Report deadlinesUse professional quality communication skills to convey information to the student’s teamRemain current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research. Including engaging in regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learnersMaintain privacy and confidentiality of student's health and medical information per State and Federal LawsOther Expectations:Attend evening events including Admissions Events (~2-3 per year), Celebrations of Learning (~4 per year), Home Visits, and GraduationFollow the school’s faculty handbook related to school rules, policies, and proceduresAttend professional development and faculty meetingsParticipate and contribute at IEP/504 meetings as neededTake part in Teacher Assistant Team (TAT) for students who do not have an existing IEP but who may demonstrate potential support needsParticipation in Common Planning Time, and Data Meetings with the Student Support Team as needed.Opportunities:Prospect of attending Professional Development (including conferences, institutes, regional professional development offerings, and site-seminars)
