Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

  • An essential part of the job is to build relationships, be able to communicate with our team and conduct training.
  • Help drive the overall safety performance and compliance through various safety, health, and training activities.
  • Promote safe work practices and safety awareness through all levels of management and shop floor employees
  • Strong communication skills (written, presentation and verbal).
  • Coordinate new hire and ongoing Training
  • Assist with Safety Audits
  • Coordinate incident/injury investigations
  • Follow up on employee care
  • Follow up on corrective actions
  • Develop and/or maintain required safety documentation
  • Participate and provide leadership for the plant safety committee
  • Prepare for, participate in and follow up on Corporate Health and Safety Audits
  • Assist with development and follow up on annual Safety Self Assessments and Safety Plan
  • Identify and administer programs and training to reinforce a culture of safety
  • Administer, review, update and ensure compliance with Facility Written Programs
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent OSHA and OBE requirements, programs and regulations
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of this job.
  • Assist in Coordinating outside services such as alarm, fire, and safety supplies.

Here’s What We’re Looking For

  • Associate degree in safety/environmental related field, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years of prior Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of all current government safety regulations (i.e., OSHA), first aid, CPR, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work and deliveries
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or potential
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis
  • Bi-lingual is preferred
  • Experience in hazardous waste disposal and emission regulations, preferred

Physical Requirements:
* Noise levels in the work environment can be moderate to high.
* The plant facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.).
* Chemicals, dust, pollen, and other typical airborne particulate matter are present within the atmosphere of the production floor and may create some odors in the plant. The Company, to provide its employees with a safe and healthy working environment, limits exposure to chemicals through written procedures, engineering controls, and PPE.
* While some chemicals may pose health risks if not properly used, employees are trained on the proper safety equipment and procedures for handling chemicals.
* While the chemical exposure and odors are under acceptable levels set by OSHA and the WCB, they nevertheless, can be smelled and are handled according to the company’s hazardous communication program.
