Join our winning team as an Environmental Specialist in the Freeport, Texas location. The Environmental Specialist shares responsibility with the Leveraged EH&S Leader for implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the environmental management systems (work processes, standards, procedures) to ensure regulatory compliance and add value to meet site objectives and maintain the license to operate. This job may be applied within a specific plant or may be leveraged across multiple plants within a site.
Environmental Specialist Essential Functions
  • Manage regulatory compliance. This includes water permit compliance, review/updates to SPCC plan, annual AEI reports, semi-annual MACT reports, manage fugitive compliance, and other environmental reporting
  • Manage the systems to perform environmental calculations and ensure full compliance
  • Responsible for waste management, disposal issues, and manage the RCRA program
  • Identify and drive improvement project opportunities for supported plants (ex. emission reduction, spill reduction)
  • Collect and provide timely data for various EH&S reports (internal and external) and agency requests
  • Implement and maintain self-auditing programs and drive any action item closure plans to ensure 100% compliance with all internal and external requirements
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and corrective action process
Environmental Specialist Position Requirements
  • Must meet one of the following education or experience requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree* in Environmental, Engineering, Chemistry, or other relevant technical discipline; Master's degree preferred OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and 7 years of experience in air quality compliance within the chemical/petrochemical manufacturing or refining industries
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and compliance; preferably including knowledge and experience with Texas regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to respond during crisis and high-pressure situations and rapidly adjust to changing priorities as needed
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's License
