Olmsted Medical Center is Hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Lead - BirthCenter Near Rochester, MN

Clinically, the focus of the role is the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients with long-term conditions and management and preventative nursing interventions to all patients. The registered nurse lead will be responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making. The lead will work collectively with the inter-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing leadership and direction for the nursing team.

0.7 FTE - Shifts Vary (0.3 FTE Lead, 0.4 FTE Working on the Floor)

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited professional nursing program. BSN or MSN preferred
  • Current Minnesota Nursing License
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS/NRP/PALS certification based on department

Job Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a clinical leader in the delivery of nursing services to patients ensuring that the needs of the patient are the priority.
  • Leads the nursing team in the planning and implementation of local guidelines, protocols and standards, and local projects or initiatives.
  • Promotes the role of the nursing team in the provision of care.
  • Participates in practice team meetings delivering the nursing agenda and runs nursing department meetings as needed.
  • Promotes and fosters a culture of safety.
  • Assists manager with managing and maximizing driven targets and departmental and organizational initiatives.
  • Manages and assesses risk within the areas of responsibility ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients.
  • Monitors work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and free from hazards and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Supports members of the nursing team to complete mandatory and statutory training requirements.
  • Applies and enforces infection-control measures within the practice according to national and organizational guidelines.
  • Participates in departmental implementation strategies that are aligned to the values and culture of the organization.
  • Acts as mentor for staff and students, assesses competence against set standards.
  • Shares learning and information from conferences and courses with team members.
  • Facilitates orientation and onboarding of new staff.
  • Develops and facilitates in-person education courses for new hires.
  • Assists with annual competencies and checkoffs.
  • Assists with time keeping and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Develops departmental resources.
  • Coordinates and facilitates student partnership programs.
  • Assists with staffing shortages if/when needed to meet the needs of the department.
  • Participates in committee meetings and leadership meetings as required.
  • Supports the development of staff and takes responsibility for their own development, learning, and performance.
  • Participates in clinical supervision and acts as a positive role model.
  • Other duties as assigned.
