Job Description:

This position is responsible for the development and operation of the child care program in the assigned location(s) meeting the needs of the community. Fulfills the responsibilities of childcare positions when working in program ratio. Ensures a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures.

Qualifications


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

-Manages, directs and coordinates the child care programs for the assigned location(s) -Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities
-Expands the program within the community in accordance with strategic operating plans -Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed -Reviews and evaluates staff performance

-Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
-Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position
-Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected
-Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality
-Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate
-Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed
-Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living

-Develops and maintains relationships with DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Families, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
-Remain in good standing with USDA and Early Achievers

-Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner -Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned -Maintains proper records/department files
-Organizes special events for parents and families

-Assists in YMCA fund raising activities
-Assists with Program Committee meetings
-Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information -Compiles program statistics
-Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program -Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

-Have two years of experience as a teacher of children in any age group enrolled in the early learning program and at least six months of experience in administration or management or a department approved plan, pursuant to WAC 110-300-100
-Minimum age 18

-Have an ECE state certificate or equivalent as approved, pursuant to WAC 110-300-110 -Provide document of all certification and training requirements established by DCYF, including position prerequisites, current negative TB test and portable background check pursuant to WAC 110-300-105

-Experience working with individuals, families and communities of diverse backgrounds and abilities
-Plan, organize, and implement high quality developmentally appropriate programming
-Strong computer skills and experience with standard business software
-Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
-Knowledge of Early Achievers preferred.
-Knowledge of USDA child care food program preferred.

Physical Demands:

Lead and participate in a range of activities in indoor/outdoor settings. Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise program activities. Staff may be required to move weights of approximately 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office

equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; may use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with members, staff, volunteers, and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be dissatisfied individuals.

  • Valid drivers license
