Job Description/General Function

Under the direction and in consultation with the CEO, the Branch Executive is responsible for all branch decision-making and operations including driving the financial development strategy, community engagement, business operations, facility management, human resources, membership, and program/membership services and programs of the Branch in accordance with the policies, by-laws, and constitution of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA. This position reports to and is accountable to the Olympic Peninsula YMCA CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Board and Financial Development in cooperation with the Advisory Board drive all fundraising and financial development initiatives in the community
  • Directs the Annual Campaign to fund the mission-related work of the branch
  • Community engagement – Enhance the Y’s participation in the community and recruit committed volunteers. Recruits maintains and engages a productive Board of Advisors
  • Staff Development -Direct responsibility and supervision for branch staff team. Direct reports include Lifeguard Director, Member Services Coordinator, Healthy Living Coordinator, Program Coordinator, Sports Coordinator, and Administrative Coordinator
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget targets
  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch
  • Works with branch staff on a timely basis to correct financial decisions
  • Participates in the association leadership meetings and disseminates information discussed to branch staff
  • Provides solutions for the Branch specific and/or Association-wide challenges
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models’ relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies
  • Works with the Facility Director and maintenance staff to ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment
  • Works with the Marketing team to develop and direct branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefits to the community
  • Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objective of the YMCA
  • Follows all association hiring/coaching policies, including working with the Administrative Coordinator to get job listings posted, tracking applications, and following new hire training/onboarding procedures. Employee ongoing coaching will include 30-day, 90-day, and anniversary check-ins
  • Accurately approve assigned timecards in the required time frame
  • Complete knowledge of operating details of programs and branch operations
  • Timely action planning is in place (with effective end-results) for operating units and/or program areas that have performance concerns
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Branch staff are achieving goals and producing meaningful qualitative results

    • Aquatics
    • Employee Safety
    • Facilities
    • Health and Well Being Programming

Qualifications


Required Skills and Experience

  • Super Inter-Personal Communication skills-both written and verbal. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals effectively and clearly. Excellent vendor ad customer relations skills required
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers, and staff in the accomplishments of the YMCA goals, objectives, and mission in the community
  • Possess a concern for detail and accuracy and has the ability to delegate responsibility
  • Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development, and our mission
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent, is required
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred
  • Management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency necessary
  • Prior experience in a membership/customer service-based business strongly preferred
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
  • Pass a comprehensive background check
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults in all circumstances
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and completes all online trainings which includes child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire
  • Upholds YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youths

Working Conditions

Environment

  • Office/aquatics/fitness environment with constant interruptions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours periodically
  • Occasional travel required

Physical Abilities

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proof of insurance

YMCA Vehicle

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards, driver records request will be submitted
