We are seeking individuals who are passionate about leading a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist scope of work crosses several areas of plant operations including: Quality Management System, Production, Safety Health & Environmental, and Training. This position is responsible for administrative oversight of the quality system. Key responsibilities include overseeing the document control process, driving continuous improvement projects. management review, and coordinating and facilitating the QMS internal audit schedule. This position will ensure all work instructions are up to date including management of change. Reports to the Quality Manager and provide back-up assistance in certain areas when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional projects designed to analyze, design sequence of operations and work flows to improve safety, quality, and efficiencies.
  • Participate in events to drive continuous improvements in operations and office areas including effective preparation and follow-up.
  • Track/analyze metrics and KPIs and maintain company scorecards.
  • Apply continuous improvement techniques leveraging Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to solve problems (DMAIC) and build new capabilities.
  • Share best practices and develop coordinated plans.
  • Assist with the auditing the CAPA process.
  • Revise Work Instructions as needed to include Management of Changes (MOC’s)
  • Maintain Quality Management System (QMS), coordinate and facilitate QMS internal audit schedule. Perform QMS audits.
  • Identify areas of improvement through Corrective Actions Request (CAR) process and lead LEAN events to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ownership in modifying existing Material Masters, Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and Routings
  • Back-up construction of Material Masters, Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and Routings
  • Assist in Quality Metrics tracking. Analyze and identify potential problems.
  • Analyze complaint data to drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify areas for improvement and drive change through Lean Six-Sigma (LSS) tools.
  • Act as Quality Claims manager as needed.
  • Complete assigned safety activities on a monthly/weekly basis.
  • Execute Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) requests
  • Manage the internal rejections (MRB - material review board)
  • Provide back-up assistance when running daily reports, updating performance boards, and creating schedule attainment downtime table.
  • Maintain calibration of all laboratory equipment
  • Create and distribute quality alerts.
  • Provide assistance when needed in external quality audits
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Strong data analysis skills (Minitab,etc)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, related field or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing/ quality setting in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 Years of experience in Quality, Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Operations
  • Experience in Work Instructions, SOPs, training & certification systems
  • Experience in developing and maintaining quality management processes and procedures

Preferred Skills, Ability, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • SAP Knowledge
  • LSS Greenbelt Certification / Kaizen Facilitator
  • LEAN Six Sigma Experience

Work Environment and Environmental Conditions

  • Periods of times sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment.
  • Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.
  • Approximately 10% of time spent away from home or typical office location
