o make automotive electronic control units work in their respective vehicles. *About the Company* On Site Automotive provides mobiles automotive programming and diagnostics services. The majority of our client base is made up of independent and chain repair shops in and around the Dayton and Cincinnati areas. Our aim is to provide services in a timely, convenient and cost-efficient manner. *About the Role* Your primary responsibility will be to respond to programming service calls. The dispatcher will inform you where to go and what you will be performing when you get there. You will be expected to follow all manufacturer recommended practices for performing the service. This can include, but is not limited to, hooking up a battery maintainer/charger, using a scan tool to check trouble codes or obtain part numbers and ECU data, and in some cases personally replacing an ECU. There is a customer service element to this role; you will be introducing yourself to the shop when you arrive, and sometimes will need to ask them for information or details pertaining to what you’re programming. Professionalism and customer service skills play an important role. *Responsibilities* * Respond to service requests from dispatch, travel to the location of the service request * Ensure awareness of programming protocol for the vehicle you’re working on. * Perform hardware replacement, when necessary * Prepare a sales invoice and collect payment, in most cases * Maintain your assigned programming equipment (keep your laptop charged, take care of programming interface tool, etc) *Location & Commitments* * This position requires driving in and around the Dayton & Cincinnati metro areas. Observing safe driving practices while on the clock is required. * This is a full time position consisting of 40 work hours per week * Hours can be flexible, but are largely dependent on our clients’ operating hours. Generally, those are 8 AM - 6 PM Monday - Friday, and 8 AM - 12 PM on Saturdays. We do not operate on Sundays. *Requirements* * A majority of the skills you will need for this position can be taught, but any background in automotive work will be helpful in establishing the baseline set of skills you will need. * A valid Driver’s License is required * Show up for work on time and complete tasks in a timely manner. * Adaptability is a must; our job board is a constantly changing as new service requests come in. The ability to consistently be reached via the phone during work hours and adapt to a change in your next scheduled job is crucial. This does not mean your work schedule will be inconsistent; this is limited to the jobs you will be responsible for while on shift. * Patience and critical thinking are also highly valued. Often, the programming you will be performing will be very straightforward. In situations where that is not the case, though, we value people who can remain calm, be patient, and work their way through any problems that arise. Collectively as a company we have a lot of experience in this industry, and you will need to utilize another team member’s knowledge or experience from time to time.
