Summary: Onbe is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Engineer/Database Administrator to enhance our Technology department. This role requires deep technical prowess in database management and proactive database administration.. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing robust solutions for databases, reporting, warehousing, and administration tasks such as resource management, security, and performance optimization. They will collaborate closely with software development teams, the candidate will champion best practices in database design and contribute directly to system development and maintenance.
This role is a hybrid role that will work onsite 1-2 days per week at our Buffalo Grove, IL location. Occasional travel may be required as part of this position.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases using SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
  • Ensure robust database administration including resource management, security, data backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Design, document, and implement solutions for instance monitoring, maintenance, backup, replication, security, etc.
  • Provide installation, maintenance and tackle for SQL Server Always-On Availability Group and SQL Server Replication / Mirror.
  • Proactively identify and work on database enhancements to further improve system performance as well as maintain the health and reliability of the database systems.
  • Provide critical after-hours support as needed to maintain high availability and performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's/ Master's Degree in Computer Science preferred with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator required.
  • Proficient with modern database technologies in Azure
  • Experience in SQL Server Always-On Availability Group and SQL Server Replication / Mirror.
  • Expertise in configuring, implementing, and supporting high availability SQL Server environments, including replication, log shipping, and database mirroring.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data structures, design patterns, architectural patterns, and SQL Server internals.
  • Proficiency using SSIS and SSRS.
  • Proficient in query performance tuning, understanding of query execution plans, and SQL Server versioning (2019 to current).
  • Knowledge in disaster recovery principles and effective planning.
  • Experience with SAN platforms and storage configurations.
  • Basic familiarity with cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure, and virtualization technologies like NetApp.
  • Proficient in supervising SQL Server performance through utilization of monitoring software such as Redgate and IDERA.
  • Experience with Oracle and other relational database management systems (RDBMS) is beneficial.
  • Ability to prioritize and implement in a fast-paced environment with varying requirements
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills, applying critical thinking to facilitate effective team and multi-functional communication and collaboration.
  • Experience working with Agile Scrum, Kanban, XP or similar Agile Frameworks
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and/or similar tools
The base salary range for this position is budgeted for $122,580.00 to $143,000.00, with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, business needs, and market demand.
