Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) Provide quality dental care and associated services to patients under the Direct/ General Supervision of a dentist and using established dental hygiene procedures. Assist other staff in a variety of patient care duties. This role is on-site at our new Carmichael location (95608). Dental Department Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 9am-6pm
Friday, 8am-5pm
Saturday, 9am-5pm
Sunday, CLOSED
The specific schedule will be determined at the time of offer and will include rotating Saturdays at our Midtown clinic. Training will take place at our Midtown location. Essential Functions
Provide direct patient care and dental services as trained, licensed, and assigned as permitted by the California Dental Practice Act.
Assess dental condition and needs of patient using approved patient screening procedures, including taking vitals, medical history review, document chief complaint, dental charting, periodontal charting as needed, taking X-rays as needed.
Evaluate overall health, examining oral cavity for signs of periodontal disease and oral cancer.
Follow through with oral hygiene procedures in accordance with treatment plans prescribed by the dentist. Procedures may include prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, root planning, debridement, supra and sub gingival scaling, application of fluoride treatments and application of protective sealants.
Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment. Ensure all patients enjoy a positive experience, and are treated with care and compassion.
Educate patients in oral hygiene and dental care, including proper tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition and need for professional care.
Ensure all patient records and related documentation are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and are consistent with all regulations and requirements.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of dentistry procedures, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray setup and materials.
A registered dental hygienist is authorized to perform the following procedures under direct supervision of a licensed dentist:
Soft-tissue curettage.
Administration of local anesthesia.
Administration of nitrous oxide and oxygen, whether administered alone or in combination with each other.
A registered dental hygienist is authorized to perform the following procedures under general supervision:
(a) Preventive and therapeutic interventions, including oral prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing.
(b) Application of topical, therapeutic, and subgingival agents used for the control of caries and periodontal disease.
(c) The taking of impressions for bleaching trays and application and activation of agents with nonlaser, light-curing devices.
(d) The taking of impressions for bleaching trays and placements of in-office, tooth-whitening devices.
Minimum Requirements
All licenses and certifications are to be kept current and in good standing with the CA Dental Hygiene Committee of CA
Successful completion of an accredited dental hygienist program
CA RDH License
Periodontal Soft Tissue Curettage
Local Anesthesia Administration
CA Board approved courses necessary for license renewal CA Dental Practice Act and CA Dental Infection Control
American Heart Association approved BLS Certification (CPR)
3 years of experience preferred
