Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and oversees all aspects of the organization’s finances and accounting, including financial accounting systems, reports and compliance with government funder regulations.

For more than 35 years it has been at the forefront of the fight to expand affordable housing and foster healthier and more equitable communities.
Through its work, ONE|NB aims to contribute to two outcomes: ensure that Rhode Islanders are able to access and maintain affordable housing and that Central Providence residents and organizations, together, change the conditions that drive health equity and economic mobility. ONE|NB deploys three strategies to achieve these outcomes:

- Advocate for changes to policy and practice
- Serve as the backbone for Central Providence Opportunities: A Health Equity Zone
Founded in 1988 as the Olneyville Housing Corporation, the nonprofit changed its name to ONE Neighborhood Builders when it merged with Community Works Rhode Island in 2015. ONE|NB and its affiliated entities have a consolidated annual operating budget of $13 million, with $75 million of assets. At full complement, ONE|NB employs 32 full-time equivalent team members. The nonprofit is governed by an active, 13-member Board of Directors. ONE|NB is an exemplary-rated member of NeighborWorks America, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C., that supports nearly 250 network organizations around the country that are creating opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their communities.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger details and supporting documentation within accounting records.
- Complete monthly closing activities and participate in the production of financial statements, including mapping and consolidating the financial activity from other entities maintained by third-parties.
- Provide Director of Accounting data for variance analysis; researches and reconciles discrepancies in financial statements and responds to questions raised by program managers.
- Assist in developing and consistently applying payroll allocations, shared cost allocations and other required grant allocations.
- Track and manage matching requirements as stipulated by federal grants.
- Review and support the preparation of funder requisitions prepared by the Accounting Associate – Revenue and Accounting Associate – Real Estate.
- Review month-end bank statement reconciliation as prepared by the Accounting Associate – Payables.
- Review all purchase orders and invoices; ensures general ledger coding is accurate and correct if necessary.
- Review accounts payable aging report to ensure bills are paid in a timely manner; review weekly check run as prepared by the Accounting Associate - Payables.
- Review accounts receivable aging report and provide required information to the Accounting Associate – Revenue so that they may contact customers with lapsed payments.
- Participate in annual budgeting process as lead by the Director of Accounting.
- Compile required documentation and schedules for the ONE|NB audit and 990 tax return, as requested by the Director of Accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proven ability to research, resolve, and troubleshoot moderately complex finance and accounting issues.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Expert proficiency in Excel and small business accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks); experience with CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce).

The starting salary range for this role is $75,000-$90,000 annually, with the high end of this range requiring more significant professional experience and advanced training and/or education.
