Lawrenceville, GARoles And Responsibilities
  • Manages the production section operations by developing and implementing plans to utilize materials, labor, and equipment efficiently. Ensures that all parts, assemblies, and/or final products are produced on schedule and according to established requirements.
  • Assists in directing the production department operations by planning, implementing, and adjusting processes and resources. May oversee maintenance functions to ensure Autonomous Maintenance functions are carried out by production and Preventative Maintenance functions are carried out by technicians.
  • Manages supervisors/managers and hourly personnel engaged in some or all of the following production activities:
    • Assembly, machine operation and/or fabrication
    • Product Preparation, phase in, phase out
    • Quality Inspection
  • This position may also oversee one or more of the following production support activities:
    • Production Scheduling
    • Equipment Maintenance
    • Recommends and implements section production goals, targets and adjustments for processes, work assignments and equipment usage to meet production objectives within QCDSE standards.
    • Assists in the development, recommendation, and ensures implementation of methods and processes to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing operation.
    • Manages the implementation of new products into production, reports results and identifies problems that need to be resolved.
    • Assists with directing and ensures timely implementation of new products into production, reports results and recommends process changes. Reviews all new product evaluations from Pre-mass through Turnover evaluation reporting and provides guidance to managers to resolve issues quickly.
    • Investigates/ assists managers with production problems and product quality issues, collaborates with other functional areas to identify root cause and recommend corrective action/countermeasure, prepares action plan, manages solution implementation and summarizes and reports results.
    • Coordinates Kaizen events across assigned department to drive improvements and increase operation productivity and safety.
    • Prepares, maintains, and updates ISO documents. Develops procedures, forms, operator reports and visual aids.
    • Ensures production standards align with Product Specifications developed by the Production Technology department.
    • Reviews and analyzes consolidated data for section to identify trends, problems, and opportunities and recommends actions to improve performance results. Creates and/or generates reports.
    • Prepares periodic reports summarizing costs and production and quality trends and problems; presents information to department management.
    • Manages the work performance of subordinate and/or hourly employees including:
  • Giving direction on applying methods and procedures and executing new work assignments
  • Setting performance standards
  • Training and coaching for development.
  • Conducting and approving performance appraisals
  • Approving and/or recommending personnel actions such as promotion, transfer, discipline, hire, and termination
  • Promotes employee participation in company-sponsored programs. Guides subordinates in the identification, recommendation and implementation of corporate systems and programs such as QMS, EMS, ISMS, SOX and Kaizen/5S within the section.
  • Participates in the thorough investigation of accidents, identifies root cause, and develops countermeasure to prevent future occurrences. Tracks incidents and maintains related records. Approves corrective/preventive actions and monitors their implementation.
  • Frequently interacts with management and staff in internal operational and administrative departments such as production control, quality control, engineering, maintenance, sales, and with contacts at Company Family Group, vendors and/or suppliers. Has limited customer contact. Coordinates activities and relays information to maintain schedules and implement changes and revisions in operational procedures. Interaction may entail problem resolution or negotiation. Regularly serves on project teams, sometimes as lead.
Requirements
  • Japanese Bilingual (Native/Business Level)
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5-9 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills needed to resolve complex and/or high impact process and quality problems, often requiring collaboration with other departments.
