Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Job Type: Contract May 20-September 7

Schedule: 7 PM-7:30 AM (3Nights)

Responsibilities: Included but not limited to

• Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving care utilizing collaborative strategies with patients, family members, and members of the interdisciplinary team
• Responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population
• Accurately record sedation levels and body temperature, manage blood and fluid transfusion and draw specimens, and ensure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitized
• Monitor vital signs, manage post-operative pain, and monitor surgical sites for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, and redness
• Provides phase I post-anesthesia and phase II recovery care of the post-anesthesia patient, including assessment, patient teaching, and development of post-anesthesia nursing care plan
• Possess the knowledge and technical ability to function independently in the recovery room, providing quality care during the post-anesthesia phase and immediate postoperative follow-up

Requirement and Experience

• Must have current, active, full, and unrestricted RN License
• ACLS Certification required
• 1-year experience as a Medical Surgical RN
