Reporting to the Senior Environmental Services Supervisor, the Environmental Services Supervisor supports the leading and the management of Cleveland Clinic London’s (CCL) Environmental Services Operations. The Environmental Services Supervisor will support the Senior Environmental Services Supervisor in creating and operationalizing measures of success and will use data to make effective decisions in delivering the highest standards in cleaning, hygiene, and waste management.
The role is directly responsible for the quality of the patient/visitor experience and for caregivers within functional areas. The Environmental Services Supervisor supervises the technical and administrative functions of the Environmental Services Department and acts as a technical resource for the Shift Team Leaders and team members. Operational objectives will include effective scheduling of Rota planning for the Environmental Services team to ensure departmental objectives, goals and KPI`s are adhered to.
In this capacity, responsibilities include planning the departmental resources, procuring the necessary equipment, creating, and implementing best practices/guidelines, and auditing these processes. The role will develop mid- and long-term plans to ensure environmental aspects are considered, audited, and reviewed with the assistance of the Infection Control Lead.

Job Responsibilities: - To be committed to the continual improvement of health safety and security at Cleveland Clinic London.
- Support the department in its strategic plan, monitor and evaluate high standards.
- Guide the team and make sure the department complies with legal and regulatory requirements such as CQC, joint commission and various cleaning accreditations
- Ensure timely communication with your direct reports and Caregivers to facilitates smooth operational procedures.
- Ensuring all Health & Safety (COSHH) documentation is completed promptly.
- Ensure that all members have a performance management plan.
- Supervises employees in daily operations and evaluates performance.
- Remains flexible to meet the changing operational needs.
- Leads with patients' first approach and seeks opportunities to improve patient satisfaction.
- Identifies and implements opportunities to improve speed, quality, and effectiveness.
- To attend any appropriate training or courses deemed necessary.
- Create, review, and update the SOP’s and policies within the department.
- Ensures that policies and procedures are adhered to
- Continuously inspects and audit assigned areas to ensure high-quality of cleaning and maintenance is being performed.
- Maintains staffing levels, approves and schedules paid time off and leaves requests.
- Ensures cross-coverage.
- Recruits, manages, and supervises team which includes absence management, OKR’s – Appraisals, and performance.
- Coordinates and provides orientation, education, and training.
- Responsible for consumable stock and orders.
- To arrange and ensure all staff are provided with, and wear, the correct uniform and personal protective clothing.
- To report any accident or incident and ensure appropriate paperwork is completed.
- To report any mechanical defects and needs for repairs throughout the site.
- Oversight of lost property process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: - High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Certification and Qualifications: - Customer Service required
- NVQ in Housekeeping preferred
- Knowledge of hygiene standards and infection control within the workplace
- Knowledge of the industrial type of cleaning equipment
Languages: - Ability to read, speak and write in English is required.

- Supervisory cleaning experience from a healthcare, hospitality, or other domestic background.
Work Experience: - Significant experience as a work leader, team leader, or supervisor experience in a related field
- Previous environmental services or housekeeping experience is highly preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong technological skills are required to successfully perform day-to-day job duties. There are several systems, devices, and applications to work with and monitor including: Excel, Words, Viso, Microsoft Teams, Kronos, Workday, Epic…
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
Physical Requirements: - Typical physical demands required include the ability to perform duties while standing or walking for the majority of the day, the ability to push and pull equipment such as beds, trollies, waste bins, floor buffers, and scrubbers… Ability to stop, stretch, and lift while performing duties or moving items.
- Physically Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work
Personal Protective Equipment: - Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Safeguarding: All caregivers have a personal and a professional responsibility to identify and report abuse. A patient or fellow caregiver may disclose information of being abused or suspected abuse. A caregiver may also witness abuse or simply have concerns of abuse taking place. Should any caregiver suspect abuse then it is vital that the CCLsafeguardingpolicy and procedure is immediately implemented.
It is the caregiver’s responsibility to ensure they are fully compliant with CCLssafeguardingand training and read, understood and adhere to the CCL’sSafeguardingPolicy and Procedure.
