Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a Wealth Underwriting team of individual contributors (and managers depending on team scale) in roles with moderate to high complexity and risk
  • Provide vision and set direction for multiple high-impact initiatives including high net worth and ultra-high net worth mortgage underwriting policy development and implementation and risk-related deliverables
  • Provide thought leadership to develop and implement strategic solutions to ensure prudent credit decisions and a seamless mortgage experience for the client, advisor and banker
  • Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners, and peers associated with Wealth Underwriting functional area or who are affected by its outcomes, including Home Lending Operations and Risk teams
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development within Wealth Mortgage Underwriting functions
  • Interpret and develop policies and procedures within Wealth Underwriting functional area for operations with moderate complexity within scope of responsibility
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Wealth Underwriting including ongoing leadership for domestic and offshore staff to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in business group.
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
  • Engage and influence business heads, control management, risk, legal, and audit partners to successfully ensure appropriate management of business risk.

Wells Fargo's Banking, Lending & Trust center of excellence is a client centric, channel-agnostic center of excellence designed to:

  • Provide access to highly credentialed specialists for all WIM clients through geographically dispersed but centrally managed teams
  • Create a more consistent advisor and client experience
  • Deliver best-in-class product and service offerings to all client segments
Required Qualifications
  • 6 years of wealth mortgage underwriting experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education
  • 3 years of management experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Wealth mortgage underwriting leader experience in a large, complex financial organization strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability as a thought leader in mortgage underwriting and credit policy development for high net worth and ultra-high net worth segments
  • Strong background and understanding of credit risk and mortgage operations
  • Custom commercial and consumer credit underwriting experience
