Job Description :

Onex seeks a Welder Fabricator for work mainly done at our customers locations. As a Welder Fabricator, you will work on projects as big as an industrial forge furnace or as small as air and gas piping, but your job is essentially the same;

designing, cutting and shaping metal. A Welder Fabricator may be involved in the creation of new structures or repairing existing ones.

Welder Fabricators are generally part of a team of other skilled workers, however, their duties are often performed with minimal supervision so Welder Fabricators must be comfortable working independently in a factory setting.

Responsibilities

Safety

• Promote and engage in a safe work environment
• Report safety incidents
• Display good housekeeping in work areas
• Ensure adherence to OSHA and Onex safety policies

Work Tasks

• Read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans
• Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals to complete the project
• Inspect and test welds for durability
• Equipment must be examined to determine structural integrity

Productivity

• Complete work in a timely manner with proper crew size and skill
• Work with crew to overcome challenges to keep the job on schedule
• Report daily progress to foreman

Quality

• Accurate and reliable with the quality of work results
• Ensure job scope was completed
• Ensure proper installation techniques were used

Client Interface

Communicate effectively with the client

Administration

• Require written authorization for change orders
• Obtain written sign offs from clients on all jobs

Work Conditions

• Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
• Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel
• Working in areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
• This is a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive job or position is where the employee holding the position has, at any time during his or her employment, the responsibility for his or her own safety or the safety of others
