- Design, manufacture, and maintain custom tools and molds for plastic forming.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD/CAM files to understand part specifications and tolerances.
- Utilize strong mathematical skills to calculate dimensions, angles, and feeds and speeds for machining processes.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and wire EDMs .
- Program CNC machines using industry-standard software to create precise toolpaths and machining instructions.
- Perform manual machining operations using hand tools and traditional machine tools to achieve desired shapes and finishes.
- Inspect completed tools and machined parts for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the machining process.
- Provide input on tooling design and manufacturing procedures to optimize efficiency and develop innovative tooling solutions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols.
- Have proven experience as a Toolmaker (preferably in the plastic forming industry)
- Be proficient with machine tools and precision measurement instruments
- Have a strong understanding of CAD/CAM software
- Have excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Be able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Have a strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively
