Are you a technical writing professional with an investigative mind and a keen eye for detail? Do you find yourself interacting with products thinking “I have no idea how I am supposed to use this, they should be explaining it better”? If so, keep reading. Ooni is looking for a customer-focused technical writer to join our product team and ensure our customers have the best possible user experience with our awesome range of pizza ovens and accessories.

As the newest member of our product team, you will be the person responsible for all of Ooni’s technical documentation. On any given day you will find yourself conducting user trials, working with our engineers to understand our products or helping to develop ways of working and processes to improve documentation delivery for our new products. Our product team is ambitious and innovative and always has their foot on the pedal.

The job:

• Live and breath Ooni products and the customer experience to understand how our users can understand and interact with our product better
• Embody our value of rigour, ensuring documentation is delivered to a world class level of detail
• Have an inquisitive mind; be able to put yourself in somebody else's shoes and crucially not be afraid to ask why
• Work closely with many areas of the business, including product, compliance, legal and marketing
• Thrive working under pressure to deliver fast, high impact results
• Be passionate about the user experience, making improvements wherever they can be found
• Be responsible for creating the content for physical and online technical documentation including packaging, user manuals, essential guides and FAQs
• Implement processes and ways of working that expedite and control the consistency and quality of Ooni documentation
• Ensure documents meet the requirements of the legal stuff! Including those outlined by local legislative bodies
• Verify any claims are robust and sufficiently proven before committing to print
• Use existing 3D models to create technical images

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Experience in technical writing with experience developing user manuals, online FAQ’s or other technical documentation
• Experience with managing legislative requirements such as those found in standards or directives
• Keen eye for risk with experience interpreting risk assessments and other risk management tools
• Experience in user experience copy, drafting clear concise instructions and performing user testing to verify proposals
• Ability to manage product claims, ensuring they are robust and valid
• Ideally a degree or qualification in Engineering or a literature field
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a comprehensive grasp of English
• Ability to plan project deliveries and work to deadlines
• Team player, optimistic, solution-driven orientation

You’ll get bonus points if you have: 

• Experience in the consumer goods sector
• Ability to use CAD software to create and extract product images
• Experience with Adobe InDesign
