Job DescriptionOur client was founded in 2005 offering steel and metal services to construction and commercial customers. Specializing in metal products, metal fabrication and installation.
Job Title - Project Manager
Responsibilities:
  • Support Company growth and profitability. Assist in achieving operational goals & objectives.
  • Perform effective planning, mobilization, trouble-shooting, and reporting on each assigned project.
  • Develop successful portfolio of Customers via good sales and service program.
  • Achieve and maintain highest levels of performance possible for the Company (Quality, Safety, and Customer Service) per NAAMM, AISC, general construction industry, and general business standards and best practices.
  • Represent Company effectively to Construction and Steel Fabrication Customers.
  • Perform procurement and sub-contractor management activities.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of operational improvements.
Routine Functions:
  • Review all new jobs with Estimator during coordination meeting, including scope of work and budget.
  • Initiate contact with Customer; including Site Superintendent and Project Engineer.
  • Submit drawings and submittals for approval. Ensure detailer is knowledgeable and adheres to the Company’s quality control standards.
  • Submit RFI’s and answer detailing/approver questions and comments.
  • Order job material and create purchase orders – coordinate pick-ups with Shop Foreman.
  • Order routine shop and field supplies, creating purchase orders for all orders; confirm receipt of purchase.
  • Attend job-related coordination, safety, and site meetings, as required. (Until reassigned.)
  • Manage any subcontractors working for the Company, including to review scope and pricing following all job coordination meetings.
  • Forward subcontractor information to Business Office for it to issue subcontracts/PO’s.
  • Prepare schedule of values, preliminary fabrication and erection schedules with input from the Estimator, Shop Foreman and Subcontractors.
  • Supply subcontractors working for the Company with field drawings, as needed.
  • Review and sign off on all approval drawings before providing to shop and subcontractor.
  • Field measure and coordinate with detailer (and Shop Foreman), as needed.
  • Verify the site area is ready for the Company’s subcontractors.
  • Order equipment, if needed. (Advise business office of all necessary permitting and licensing.)
  • Schedule jobsite deliveries with Shop Foreman.
  • Periodically inspect subcontractors progress and quality of workmanship, issuing change orders as needed.
  • Resolve detailing, fabrication and fitment issues, which occur in the field.
  • Prepare change orders with Estimator.
  • Review and approve back-charges, coordinate with Estimator so job budget and schedule of values can be adjusted.
  • Prepare progress report for billing purposes and forward to business office by 19th of each month.
  • Coordinate completion of final punch list and attend final job walkthrough.
  • Prepare and submit warranty letter and other closeout documents, as required.
  • Review daily time sheets and forward to business office daily.
  • Review and forward delivery tickets to the Business Office.
  • Prepare report for weekly production meetings, to include:
  • Progress and performance toward completed; by job.
  • Number of man-hours used (cumulative) versus number of man-hours budgeted by job.
  • Profitability maintenance as established by profitability matrix.
  • Utilize Company technology and telecommunications tools (customary business software: Microsoft, QuickBooks, Outlook) in order to assist with business functions, e.g., billing, contract submittals and compliance, risk-reduction, and customer service.
Periodic Functions:
  • Train and/or supervise others. Prepare performance evaluations.
  • Participate in/Contribute to Company and Production meetings for planning & problem-solving.
  • General Business Development activity.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Post-High School vocational or technical training. College-level coursework helpful. Verifiable experience and proven success in the management of steel service projects related to Construction. Ability to manage/control manpower and production resources to budget. Ability to read construction blueprints, and perform take-offs. Ability to interpret technical specifications for basic metallurgy, steel (and other metal) fabrication, and to comply with requirements. Competency in math & measuring. Ability to interface with professional and technical resources. Energetic Team Player.
