Ophthalmic Technician Coordinator
Practice Administrator
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides assistance to ophthalmologist by working patients up prior to their visit with the physician. Also providing additional testing as required by the physicians.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
1) Obtaining a complete and accurate medical history.
2) Tests and measures eye function to assist OPHTHALMOLOGIST to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease: Tests patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception to assist OPHTHALMOLOGIST to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease.
3) Examines eye, using slit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posterior chambers.
4) Performs manifest refractions to obtain prescription for spectacles.
5) Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
6) Measures intraocular pressure of eyes via applanation tonometry (slit lamp).
7) Tests patient's field of vision, including central and peripheral vision, for defects, and charts test results.
8) Measures axial length of eye, using ultrasound equipment.
9) Performs other tests and measurements as requested by physician, i.e. OCT, Pentacam, fundus photos, etc.
10) Gives instructions to patients concerning eye care.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
