UCT is seeking a talented Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Chandler, AZ! The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading suppliers in qualifying products to meet customers’ (internal/external) needs in the US. In addition, the candidate will be required to have quality management knowledge, strong problem solving, and project management and communication skills to support supplier assessment, qualification, performance, monitoring, and development activities. The candidate will be responsible for conducting supplier process quality audits to ensure manufacturing processes are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner. Project management duties are necessary and include working with cross-functional teams consisting of supply chain management, manufacturing, and suppliers to provide feedback and requirements during new product qualification through to production release and long-term sustaining activities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in manufacturing processes for machining and secondary processes (such as plating).
  • Engineering skillset; a broad set of mechanical engineering, technical skills, and experiences
  • Technical lead on supplier problem resolution, using quality tools such as 8D, DOE, FMEA, POR, and own supplier quality.
  • Hands-on engineering experience with a manufacturing environment, understand Quality management system fundamentals as applied effectively in manufacturing, with measures in place.
  • Conducts supplier assessments (with emphasis on manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems) of new and existing suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier process audit, risk assessment, and drives closure on improvement actions.
  • Ensures suppliers' manufacturing processes are in place to produce reliable products in a repeatable manner; develops and audits quality control systems.
  • Supplier non-conformance material management, feedback to suppliers, creation, and management of quality plans and improvement plans.
  • Review supplier quality scores periodically and drive improvement.
  • Manages supplier qualification projects and provides regular updates to CFT teams.
  • Interface with the internal customers on quality issues and actively participate in failure analysis and corrective action efforts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools
  • Experience in or knowledge of standard fabrication practices of the structural frame, sheet metal fabrication, and powder painting
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on work experience in secondary process qualification, lab analysis, and test.
    • The focus is on machining, castings, and secondary processes.
    • Strong working knowledge of all phases of measuring, tools, and CMM operations.
    • Strong working knowledge of GD&T
    • Secondary process experience/knowledge such as anodizing, surface coating (Ni, Ag, Zn, Cr..), material conversion process (Zinc phosphate, Iron phosphate.), electropolishing, precision chemical cleaning, and etc.
  • Hands-on experience in supplier assessment, qualification, audit, and management
  • Strong passion and an aptitude for problem-solving in a collaborative team environment are required.
  • The ability for good written and verbal communication of technical content in English is required.
  • Strong project management skills are required.
  • Hands-on knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 why’s, DOE, etc.) and quality engineering experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of SPC programs such as Minitab is desired.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Software – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Working knowledge of Lean/six sigma principles and application

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
  • ASQ CQA, CQT, or CQE certification preferred

Work Experience:

  • 10 years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry
