OhioGuidestone is seeking a licensed mental health professional to conduct study appointments for a research study validating a newly created paternal depression screening tool. The research therapist will administer screening and diagnostic tools including the Edinburgh Depression Scale and The Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview module for major depression. Research study appointments will take place in community settings with men 18 years or older with a baby 0-1 years old. The research therapist will assist with study appointment coordination, conducting research informed consent, collect and submit research data, and completing mental health referrals or crisis responses for participants at risk of depression. Training will be provided for the research protocol and administration of screening tools. Qualified candidates should be a licensed mental health professional, preferably with independent license standing. This is a project-based, PRN position that requires flexibility for day, evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions:

  • Licensed mental health professional will conduct study appointments for research studies validating newly created paternal mental health screening and intervention protocol, and/or effectiveness and feasibility of novel maternal depression treatment protocol.
  • Conduct study appointments in community settings with men or women, often parents, aged 16 years or older in accordance with provided training on specific research protocols with eligible participants to evaluate the accuracy and sensitivity of a newly developed paternal and/or effectiveness maternal depression screening tool and intervention protocol.
  • Administer relevant and appropriate screening tools such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7, Edinburgh Depression Scale, IRRS, and ACEs for Adults; and clinical diagnostic tools such as the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview. 
  • Assist with study appointment coordination, conducting research informed consent, research data management, and completing mental health referrals including crisis response for participants at risk of depression, anxiety or other emergent mental health needs.
  • Complete and maintain required training to execute research activities to meet human subjects research ethics and cultural competency standards.
  • Coordinate research enrollment, visit scheduling, protocol meetings, and IRB submissions with study team.
  • Complete and submit all documentation per human subjects research ethics approved research protocol.
  • Attend, and at times facilitate, staff trainings and meetings.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events, specific projects, or program changes.
  • May be involved in training, supervision, or coaching clinical trainees working on research protocols.
  • Employee may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance to the satisfaction of management.

Education & Experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ohio Licensed Mental Health Professional (PCC, MFT, LSW, Psychologist, Nurse Practitioner), preferably with independent license standing.
  • Current licensure to diagnose mental health conditions per the current DSM.
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with diverse maternal and paternal populations. Ability to form relationships with diverse populations within diverse settings.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting clinical and qualitative interviews.
  • Demonstrated experience screening females for mental health diagnoses in a community-based setting.
  • Demonstrated experience screening males for mental health diagnoses in a community-based setting.
  • Ability to work on a project based, intermittent part-time position that requires flexibility for day, evening, and weekend hours; or flexible hours as business need dictates.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other position related technologies. Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Excel) at an Intermediate or above level.
  • Ability to verbally exchange information in a confidential manner with employees, clients, students, participants, and/or families in various settings.

  • Must be able to frequently drive to varying work environments including agency office, school
  • based, community based including subject homes in various communities.
  • Must be able to visually read written and digital information and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned and/or to make general observations of facilities and structures.
  • Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
  • Successfully meet pre-employment drug screen, physical exam and tuberculosis test requirements.
  • Successfully meet all pre-employment background requirements.
