Description:

The Lead Prototype Build Engineer is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise with leadership and project management skills. As the Lead Prototype Build Engineer, you will be at the forefront of managing and coordinating all activities related to prototype builds within our vehicle development programs. You will pull the teams together to make sure the goal is met. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that build plans are meticulously executed according to vehicle specifications, test plans, and program timelines. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience in CAD design and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive build plans based on vehicle specifications, ensuring alignment with test plans and program milestones.
• Coordinate and oversee the execution of build activities, including prototype assembly and testing, to ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
• Lead weekly presentations to VP level
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians responsible for prototype builds.
• Provide guidance, direction, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Monitor team progress, allocate resources effectively, and ensure that all team members are equipped to meet their objectives.
• Identify and address issues that arise during prototype builds, such as engineering design challenges, manufacturing process constraints, or timeline adjustments.
• Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to mitigate risks and improve build quality and efficiency.
• Utilize advanced CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for 2D and 3D modeling, surfacing, and assembly to support prototype design and development.
• Apply hands-on experience in parametric 3D surfacing and detailed design within a Product Data Management (PDM) system to drive design integrity and manufacturability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, testing, and manufacturing, to integrate feedback and optimize prototype designs.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering technology
• Basic Vehicle build process knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of CATIA V5, and/or NX, Teamcenter.
• Strong Leadership and Communication skills
• Fluent in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable with preparing presentations and presenting to all levels of management.
• 5 years' experience
• Project Management experience
